Georg Diepold of Gemmingen

Georg Diepold von Gemmingen (* 1584 ; † January 9, 1624 in Heimsheim ) was the princely Augsburg caretaker of the Schöneck rule and governor in Dillingen on the Danube .

Life

He was a son of Hans Diepold von Gemmingen (1554-1612) and Barbara von Venningen from the Steinegg line of the barons of Gemmingen . Like many members of his family, he entered the service of the prince-bishop of Augsburg, where his uncle Johann Otto von Gemmingen (1545–1596) had been prince-bishop from 1591 to 1596. In 1610 Georg Diepold von Gemmingen was governor of Dillingen. Together with Johann Dietrich von Rosenbach and his wife Susanne Regine von Knöringen, Georg Diepold and his wife Anna Margarethe von Knöringen received 20,000 guilders from the inheritance of Christoph Ulrich von Knöringen in 1610.

He was buried in Tiefenbronn .

His sons inherited Liebenfels in 1654 from Georg Diepold's cousin Johann von Gemmingen, who had remained childless, and sold this Thurgau property to the St. Ulrich monastery.

He was married to Anna Margaretha von Knöringen. The marriage had seven children, five of whom were years old. The family line was continued by the descendants of the son Wolf Wilhelm (1622–1668).
