Georg Eisser
Georg Eißer (born July 11, 1898 Saargemünd , † June 4, 1964 in Tübingen ) was a German lawyer and professor of law at the University of Tübingen .
Live and act
Georg Eißer studied law at the universities of Frankfurt, Freiburg and Gießen. In 1922 he was awarded the title of Dr. iur. PhD. In 1921 he became a trainee lawyer in Gießen , and in 1924 a court assessor in Darmstadt . In 1926 he completed his habilitation in Giessen, where he became a private lecturer . His collaboration with the local Assyriologist Julius Lewy , which led to the publication of Die Altassyrischen Rechtsurkunden vom Kültepe , began during his time in Giessen .
In 1928 he became an associate professor at the University of Tübingen, and in 1928 he was appointed professor there for civil and Roman law and for commercial law ; In 1939 he was appointed full professor. During the National Socialist era he represented a . a. the view that Adolf Hitler as a “Führer” and his employees and confidants are legislators and only this “Führer” determines the changes and the enactment of laws. In his opinion, the Nazi state is such a constitutional state that would implement the so-called race idea. In May 1946 he was first dismissed as a professor, but reinstated in his office in 1949. From 1950 to 1960 he worked part-time at the Compensation Court, in 1955/56 he held the office of Rector of the University of Tübingen.
His portrait, painted by Ludwig Koch-Hanau in 1957, hangs in the Tübingen professors' gallery .
