Georg Fischer (theologian)
Georg Fischer SJ (* 1954 in Levis (Feldkirch) ) is an Austrian Roman Catholic priest , theologian and Old Testament scholar.
Life
He entered the Jesuit order in 1972. After studying in Munich , Innsbruck , Graz ( habilitation : 1992/1993) and at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (1988: dissertation with Jean Louis Ska ) in Rome , he has been teaching in various countries since 1985, since 1995 as professor of biblical studies of the Old Testament and oriental languages at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Innsbruck. In 1993/94 he completed the last part of his religious education in the Philippines .
His main research interests and interests are Torah and prophecy (especially Jeremiah) as well as biblical theological topics and questions of hermeneutics and methodology.
