Georg Gail

Georg Gail (born April 20, 1884 in Gießen ; † December 8, 1950 ) was a German cigar manufacturer.

Life

After graduating from high school in Giessen, Georg Gail studied law at the Universities of Bonn and Göttingen. In 1904 he became a member of the Corps Palatia Bonn . In 1908 he completed his studies with the trainee exam and the doctorate to Dr. jur. from. He then completed a commercial apprenticeship, did military service as a one-year volunteer, and traveled around the world between 1911 and 1912. In 1912 he joined his father's company, the Gail'sche cigar factory , as a partner. During the First World War he took an active part as an officer in the motor vehicle troops, most recently in the rank of captain of the reserve. After the death of his father Wilhelm in 1925 he became the owner and director of the cigar factory as well as owner and supervisory board chairman of Wilhelm Gailsche Tonwerke AG in Giessen.

Georg Gail was a committee member of the Reich Association of German Cigar Manufacturers e. V. , member of the main committee of the German Tobacco Association e. V. and advisory board member of the employers' association for Lahngau and Upper Hesse in Gießen.
