Georg Groot

Georg Groot (born October 25, 1899 in Ronneburg , Livonia Gouvernement , Russian Empire , † July 20, 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German politician ( SPD / LP / GVP ).

Life

Groot first attended a German grammar school in Riga , but after the First World War he moved to Berlin in 1919, where he graduated from high school. He began studying math and science. He then studied anthroposophy for six years in Dornach near Basel at the Goetheanum. He also began his medical studies in Basel. Ultimately, Groot continued his studies in Berlin and graduated. In 1935 he began to work as a general practitioner in Silesia. During the Second World War , he served as a medical officer in the Wehrmacht between 1939 and 1945. In 1946 he came to Lower Saxony as a refugee from Silesia .

Public offices

Groot was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament , to which he was elected in the second electoral period from May 6, 1951 to May 5, 1955. Here he was chairman of the committee for health care from November 26, 1952 to May 5, 1955. He was initially a member of the SPD parliamentary group until July 28, 1953. Subsequently, from July 29, 1953, he was a parliamentary group member of the All-German People's Party (GVP). From October 8, 1953, he was a member of the Mitte parliamentary group, and between September 1, 1954 and January 11, 1955, he belonged to the Bund der Deutschen (BdD). He then remained non-attached until February 7, 1955. Until the end of his legislative term, he was from February 8, 1955 member of the farmers' party (LP).
