education

Georg Höhlig was a student at the Leipzig Art Academy from 1894 to 1897. From November 1897 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in the nature class with Gabriel von Hackl . In 1912 he stayed in Paris on a study trip .

Live and act

Georg Höhlig was the second of four children of Gustav Hermann Höhlig and his wife Auguste Henriette Höhlig. Gustav Hermann Höhlig was a drawing teacher at the Second Citizens' School in Leipzig. It is therefore obvious that Georg Höhlig came into contact with drawing and painting as a child. Between 1903 and 1918 he had numerous stays in hospitals and health centers due to an asthmatic illness.

From 1913 he regularly stayed in the Western Ore Mountains for several months a year, especially in Waschleithe and Crandorf . Motifs from this area characterize the majority of his landscapes.

In 1940 he and his sister moved to the Crandorf district of the Erla community, where he died in 1960.
