Georg Heinrich von Bernstein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Georg Heinrich von Bernstein († June 8, 1670 in Magdeburg ) was cathedral dean of Magdeburg and canon of Naumburg . He was also the owner of a manor in Großhelmsdorf in Saxony-Weissenfels .

Life

Georg Heinrich von Bernstein comes from the Upper Saxon-Meissnian noble family Bernstein or Bärenstein. His father was Siegfried von Bernstein, who when he died in 1632 had left his five sons with the two indebted manors Großhelmsdorf and Kertschütz , of which the manor Großhelmsdorf was in the office of Weißenfels in the Electorate of Saxony . After a short time, Georg Heinrich von Bernstein and his brothers agreed to divide up his father's property. So he got a share in the manor Großhelmsdorf, which he kept until his death in 1670, although he had long lived in the capital of the Duchy of Magdeburg , where he had been elected cathedral dean after he had previously become canon in Naumburg.

In 1645 he was involved in the church visitation in the hall circle . He died on June 8, 1670 at midnight.

Georg Heinrich von Bernstein was married to Maria Sophia geb. von Bennigsen, who survived him. She was the daughter of Erasmus von Bennigsen. No children emerged from the marriage, so that his share in the Großhelmsdorf manor fell back to his surviving brother.
