Georg Kühl (politician)

Georg Kühl (born February 27, 1905 in Neuruppin , † July 24, 1980 in Uelzen ) was a German educator and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from elementary school, Kühl completed the teachers' seminar. He passed his first teacher examination in 1925 and immediately afterwards worked as an unemployed young teacher, initially as a security policeman, traveling reciter and district committee employee. In 1929 he entered the school service. In 1936 he got a job as a teacher in Altlewin / Oderbruch. As a soldier he took part in the Second World War as a military service from 1942 and was captured by the British and the United States. In 1946 he became a broadcaster for the BBC in London . He was released from captivity in 1947. He returned to his family, who had settled in Lower Saxony after the end of the war.

In Uelzen he worked as a teacher at an elementary school. In addition, since 1947 he was the first chairman of the Uelzen eV cultural group

politics

Kühl joined the SPD in 1929. In 1932 he was already a city councilor in Neuruppin. From 1948 he was a council member of the city of Uelzen and chairman of the cultural committee there. He was also elected a member of the district council in Uelzen . Here he was chairman of both cultural committees and the board of trustees of the adult education center and a member of the administrative committee in Uelzen. He also chaired the district committee and other committees.

In the third electoral term he was elected as a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from May 6, 1955 to May 5, 1959 .
