Georg Kriz

Georg Kriz (born April 4, 1921 in Krems an der Donau ; † August 29, 2019 ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 1970 to 1982 he was a member of the National Council .

Life

Kriz graduated from elementary and junior high school and while he was a prisoner of war several classes at a high school in the United States. He learned the trade of locksmith and attended the social academy of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna. Subsequently, he was employed as head of the office of the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Lower Austria.

In the political field, Kriz was active as a youth functionary and acted as group and district chairman of the socialist youth . In addition, he was district chairman of the youth union, district party chairman of the SPÖ Krems and councilor in Krems. He represented the SPÖ from March 31, 1970 to October 8, 1982 in the National Council, was a member of the National Defense Committee, promoted the electrification of the Franz-Josefs-Bahn and repeatedly demanded strict animal protection laws.
