Georg Kuttner

Georg Kuttner (born June 26, 1877 in Elberfeld (today a district of Wuppertal ), † September 6, 1916 in Berlin (suicide)) was a German legal scholar .

Life

He did his doctorate on "(the) teaching of accessories", which was not printed. First, after the state examinations, from 1903 he was a judicial assessor in Bonn at the regional court. In 1904 he was transferred to the Koblenz Regional Court. In 1905/06 he came back to the Bonn Regional Court. 1906/07 was for scientific studies at the University of Bonn. In 1908 he worked as an assessor at the Hanover regional court, where he became a regional judge in the same year. In 1909 he gave up his position as a district judge and moved to the university in Berlin, where he completed his habilitation. There he was a lecturer at the Russian Seminary for Roman Law, which offered a "course to train teachers of Roman law at the Imperial Russian Universities". In 1914 he was appointed to the chair for civil procedure law, comparative law and civil law at the newly founded university in Frankfurt am Main and is thus one of the founding professors. In 1915/16 he was dean.

He converted from the Jewish to the Protestant faith. He was married to Gertrud Schocken (1879–1965). He had three children. The German-American canon lawyer Stephan Kuttner (1907-1996) was his son.
