Georg Lota Ponitka (* 1952 in Wurzen ) is a German illustrator and author.

biography

Ponitka is co-founder of the reading forum “ Literature at eight ” in Cologne. and the artists' cooperative "Triebart" In 1959, he traveled from the GDR to the FRG as a child. He has been working as a freelance artist, author and occasional musician since the 1970s. He has also worked in advertising and as a media worker since the 1980s. In 1984 he and his band "Die Nashörner" received a children's song award from the Child Protection Association / WDR. From 1996 to 2004 he performed with the live rock band of his cousin Rainer Ponitka, “The Weird Angels” (or “hormonally beisamen”).

In his early years he illustrated SF books for Heyne Verlag, designed the artwork for around 18 picture stories and cartoons for WDR's “ Sendung mit der Maus ”, wrote / composed children's songs for the “Sandmännchen” at ORB, and for many years was responsible for the image design Safety and youth traffic information from the Federal Highway Research Institute (BAST). Numerous other illustrations, picture stories and cartoons have appeared in the press, books and TV. His comic publications include the historical album "Kölner Traum" from 1985. Scattered, often collective exhibitions. Since 2000 he has been primarily active in literature.

Ponitka appears with his texts at reading events in Cologne; primarily in the weekly reading series “Literature at eight” in Café Duddel, which he founded with theater people Gerd Buurmann (director) and Viktoria Burkert in 2001, as well as the Monday reading “Poet's Hour at Midnight” in Café Storch. In November 2008, after Buurmann's departure, he and two new partners took over the organization of the “Literature at eight”.
