controversy

Gerd Buurmann filed several charges against the activist Walter Herrmann , who was active in Cologne and who died in 2016, on suspicion of sedition . The initial suspicion was based on a caricature of the Israel-Palestine conflict in 2010 , which was displayed on the Cologne Wailing Wall . A photo from the FAZ was shown, on which a protester held up an illustration of a headless man who ate a small child and feasted on its blood. In Buurmann's opinion, it uses anti-Semitic clichés in the style of the striker . The Simon Wiesenthal Center subsequently praised Buurmann for the advertisement. In 2011 Buurmann again filed a complaint. The public prosecutor's office in Cologne did not recognize any incitement to hatred in either case and closed the investigation. In 2014 Herrmann was acquitted again, but in April 2015 he was sentenced to a suspended sentence by the Cologne District Court for violating the protection of minors.
