Theater deep red

The Tiefrot Theater is a private chamber theater in Cologne . It was opened in 2002, the founder is the actor and director Volker Lippmann .

Foundation and location

The theater premiered on April 12, 2002 with Bertolt Brecht's play Baal and is housed in a former Kolping journeyman's home from 1905 under a hotel in Cologne's Dagobertstrasse. The deep red can be seated variably and has up to 80 seats.

repertoire

The Deep Red Theater has made a name for itself in the Cologne off-theater scene for many years with plays such as The Artificial Silk Girl by Irmgard Keun or Brother Molière by Gerold Theobald . The theater plays pieces by contemporary authors such as The Grönholm Method by the Spaniard Jordi Galceran as well as classics in new clothes, such as Schiller's Maria Stuart in the version of the Italian writer Dacia Maraini , Goethe's elective affinities or Nervesäu , a romantic comedy based on Molière .

The theater sees itself as a “socially committed literary theater” and also plays political plays such as Die Welle , a play based on an experiment by Ron Jones on fascism , adapted by Reinhold Tritt. Intercultural guest theaters such as the Ali Jalaly Ensemble from Iran or the TKO Theater from Croatia also appear in deep red .
