Tazzelwurm (Varieté)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tazzelwurm was the first variety theater in Cologne after the Second World War .

The theater was located at Zülpicher Strasse 34 and was one of the few remaining larger halls in largely destroyed post-war Cologne. The founder Robert Baums had the premises made available by the parish of the Herz-Jesu-Kirche in 1945 and after his denazification three years later he was officially given permission to direct the entertainment theater.

The first carnival revue was staged as early as November 1945 , in the carnival session of 1946/47 humorous and musical local greats such as Grete Fluss , Jupp Schlösser and Gerhard Jussenhoven appeared, and in 1949 it was converted into a cinema, the Tazzelwurm-Lichtspiele , which was initially closed in 1957 and then, after modernization, opened as the Bali Theater under the new operator Eugen Gerards .
