Georg Luz (born February 25, 1818 in Ofterdingen , † April 11, 1884 in Biberach an der Riss ) was a German teacher and writer.

Life

After attending the Ebingen Latin School, Luz entered the Esslingen teachers' seminar in 1833 . In 1835 he came as the third teacher in the elementary school in Bernhausen . In 1836 he was transferred as a teacher to the elementary class at the municipal boys' school in Esslingen. In the following year, 1837, Luz was offered one of the two supervisors at the Esslingen seminar, where he passed his second service examination with good grades in 1840 and, in 1841, the apprenticeship in geography, Württemberg and German history, leading the exercise in good lecture, in essay writing and was entrusted with drawing and managing the seminar library.

In 1846, Luz was appointed schoolmaster of Lindorf near Kirchheim / Teck. From 1852 to 1867, Luz worked as a schoolmaster in the upper class of the Heubach elementary school. In 1867 he successfully applied for the position of schoolmaster for the upper girls' class at the Protestant elementary school in Biberach, where he lived until his death.

In books and articles, Luz fought for a reform of the elementary school system. He also wrote town chronicles about his places of activity Heubach and Biberach (the latter reprinted in 1989).
