Georg Toebelmann

August Wilhelm Georg Toebelmann (born April 16, 1835 in Arendsee , † September 22, 1909 in Berlin ) was a German architect .

Georg Toebelmann served from 1888 to 1905 as city councilor of Charlottenburg with the honorary title of "royal building officer". When he left office, he was awarded the honorary title of City Elder of Charlottenburg. His grave is in the Old St. Matthew Cemetery in Berlin-Schöneberg . It is dedicated to the city of Berlin as an honorary grave .

Toebelmann designed the first homeless asylum , which was opened in 1886 , for the Berlin Asylum Association for the Homeless, which was founded in 1868 . Another listed monument to Toebelmann is at Schloßstraße 67. The building was built in 1873/74 and is the oldest rental villa on the street; the front garden was reconstructed according to old plans. In 1906 Toebelmann was involved in the redesign of the Lietzenseepark . Toebelmannweg in Charlottenburg was named after him in 1950 and was deleted from the street register in 1959.

His only son, the architect and archaeologist Fritz Toebelmann , died in the First World War in 1914 .
