Georg Tolkemitt

Georg Tolkemitt (born April 28, 1930 in Freiort , East Prussia , † February 21, 2009 ) was a German financial scientist.

Tolkemitt studied economics at the University of Heidelberg and received his doctorate in 1960 with a thesis on macroeconomic model analysis of tax incidence. In 1972 he qualified as a professor in Heidelberg with a thesis on the theory of long-term effects of public debt .

He was professor of economics, especially finance, at the Department of Economics at the University of Hamburg and Managing Director of the Institute for Finance in the Department of Economics at the University of Hamburg from 1974 to 2002, alternating with Gunther Engelhardt every two years .

Georg Tolkemitt was a member of the finance committee of the Verein für Socialpolitik.
