In February 1896 he moved to the north-east of England to the second division Newcastle United , whose team consisted largely of Scottish players. At that time the runners were made up of the trio James Stott , Jack Ostler and Tommy Gheewhich led the club to rise in 1898. For Adams therefore remained until his departure at the end of the season 1896/97 only the role of the supplementary player, in which he came to a total of 13 league appearances (1 goal).
