George Goddard (musician)
George "Sonny" Goddard (born April 28, 1924 in Port of Spain , † January 1988 ibid) was a Trinidadian patron of the steelpan musical instrument and long-time president of the Steelband Association of Trinidad and Tobago .

Goddard grew up in Port of Spain in the Newtown district. He was a member of Alexander's Ragtime Band , one of the first steel bands in Trinidad. From 1957 to 1971 he was President of the Steelband Association of Trinidad and Tobago , where he campaigned for more acceptance of panplayers and steelbands . He also wrote the standard work Forty Years in the Steelbands 1939 to 1979 .
