George Goddard (soccer player)

George Goddard (born December 20, 1903 in Gomshall , Surrey , † April 1987 ) was an English football player on the position of a striker . With 177 goals in 243 league games, he is the most successful striker in the history of the Queens Park Rangers , with whom he was under contract between 1926 and 1933.

Life

Until the age of 22, Goddard played for Redhill FC in the Athenian League , an amateur football competition for clubs from the greater London area .

In 1926 he received his first professional contract with the West London-based Queens Park Rangers, with whom he was under contract until 1933.

He then played for their neighboring club Brentford FC (1933/34), then for Sunderland FC (1934/35) and finally for Southend United , where he let his sporting career end.

Goddard later worked as a pastry chef and tobacconist in Molesey , Surrey.
