George Laking

George Robert Laking (born October 15, 1912 in Auckland , † January 10, 2008 ) was a New Zealand diplomat. After attending school in Auckland, he graduated from Victoria University of Wellington . In his career he was, among other things, High Commissioner in Great Britain from 1958 to 1961 and Ambassador to the USA from 1961 to 1967. He was also Chief Ombudsman from 1977 to 1984.
