George Landseer
George Landseer ( 1834 in London - 1878 ibid) was an English portrait and landscape painter of the Victorian era . He came from a British family of artists: his father was Thomas Landseer (1794–1880), a well-known engraver and printer, his uncle the successful animal painter Sir Edwin Landseer (1802–1880). The painters Emma Mackenzie and Jessica Landseer were his aunts.
George Landseer presented his paintings on biblical and literary subjects in exhibitions at the Royal Academy and the British Institution in London. In 1840/41 he received a silver medal as an award for his watercolors of birds and wild animals.
In 1859 he traveled to India . Numerous portraits and landscape paintings were created there. George Landseer returned to England in 1870.
