George Marshall (athlete)
George Herbert Marshall (* 1877 in Patra , Greece , † after 1896) was a British athlete .
Marshall was the son of a British doctor who had settled in Greece. In the participant lists he is sometimes associated with Oxford and sometimes with London . He was a member of the sports club Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos , which should not be officially founded until 1908.
Marshall took part in the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens in part. In the 100-meter sprint competition , he did not get past the fifth heat and was the last to retire in this. On the 800-meter distance , he was the last to retire in the preliminary run. He withdrew his participation for both the 1500 meters and the singles and doubles in tennis .
