George Michael (born July 31, 1918 in Petrograd , † April 21, 2009 in West Palm Beach ) was an American hairdresser and well-known hair expert and stylist.

After studying medicine in 1941, George Michael wrote his doctoral thesis on hair, in particular long hair care. In 1951, in the confusion of the post-war era, he emigrated to America via Germany, where he was not allowed to practice as a dermatologist. After attending the Wilfred Academy of Beauty culture , he opened his first salon in 1957 on Madison Avenue in New York City.

The system came to Europe in 1981, and since 1999 the North German company COSMA cosmetic preparations GmbH has owned all rights worldwide. Even today, the George Michael hair care system is only offered in authorized hairdressing salons.
