Schneiderman began his career at the then newly founded company Fox and became its chief cameraman shortly after the end of the First World War. He photographed most of the films for the then newcomer to director John Ford in the period from 1920 to 1935. His career ended in 1940, until then he did not manage to rise to the top ranks of cameramen. Ford also hired someone else as cameraman for his later work. He was buried in the Mount Sinai Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles .
