Georges-Frédéric Burguy (* 1823 ; † 1866 ) was a French Romanist and Medievalist who worked in Berlin.

Life

Burguy was a French teacher at the Naval School in Berlin. He published one of the first grammars of Old French :

The grammar is preceded by a brief history of French philology. Burguy names the grammatical works of Gustave Fallot (1939) and August Fuchs (1840) as sources for the grammar . He is aware of his superiority over the first grammar of Old French by Konrad von Orelli (1830).
