Georges Bayrou (born December 21, 1883 in Cette (now Sète), † December 5, 1953 ) was a French football player and official.

As a player Bayrou initially ran for Gallia Club Paris , with which he in 1905 after a 1: 0 win against RC Roubaix the French Championnat de football the USFSA won. Three years later he came in an international match against Denmark in the context of the 1908 Olympic Games to his only international appearance for the French national team , which ended with a 1:17 defeat. He then returned to his hometown and joined FC Cette . In parallel to his playing activities, he took over the presidency of the club.

Even after the end of his career, Bayrou remained with FC Cette or after renaming FC Sète in the presidency. In this function, he was nationally represented in the committees of the Fédération Française de Football , in which he advocated the introduction of professional players for a long time. He also repeatedly asserted his influence in favor of the club he represented. Violations of the amateur statute in force at the time and of the regulations governing the deployment of foreign players were not punished. In September 1953 he succeeded his club mate Emmanuel Gambardella , who died at the end of August, as President of the Ligue de Football Professionnel , the FFF commission for professional clubs, but died himself after three months in office. After the two long-time patrons died, FC Sète rose from Ligue 1 in the summer of 1954 .

A football stadium is named after him in his hometown of Sète, but it is not used by his home club, FC Sète.
