Georges Castellana
Georges Castellana (* 1898 in Nice , † 1964 in Nice) was a French Romanist , Occitanist and lexicographer .
life and work
Castellana worked from 1923 to 1929 as a priest in the hinterland of Nice, then in the old town of Nice as a seminary teacher, pastor and finally as canon of the Sainte-Réparate Cathedral.
He compiled two valuable Nissart dictionaries , the Dictionnaire français-niçois (Nice 1947, 1978, 1983, 1997, 421 pages), then the Dictionnaire niçois-français (Nice 1952, 1977, 1983, 1997, 276 pages).
A street in Nice is named after him.
