Georges Lévy (film architect)

Georges Lévy (born July 15, 1920 in France , † after 1990) was a French film architect .

Live and act

Shortly after the end of the Second World War, Lévy received artistic training at the Paris film school, Institut des hautes études cinématographiques . He then worked as a film architect's assistant (e.g. in 1948 with Henri-Georges Clouzots Manon ). From 1954 he was also allowed to work as chief scene designer. In this role, Lévy primarily designed the sets for a series of rather conventionally unusual and not too ambitious costume, adventure and crime films by established entertainment professionals such as André Hunebelle and Édouard Molinaro . Designs for artistically high-quality films such as Claude Berris The Old Man and the Child and The Wedding or Claude Sautet's A Simple Story remained the exceptions. After working on Jean-Charles Tacchella's lavish costume piece The Little Death of Fine Ladies (1990), Lévy ended his cinema career at the age of 70.
