Georges Ravarani

Georges Ravarani (born May 1, 1954 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg lawyer and judge at the European Court of Human Rights .

Live and act

Ravarani studied law at the University of Grenoble , where he obtained his master's degree in 1977. After completing the practical part of his legal training in 1980, he started working as a judge at the Luxembourg District Court in 1981, which he held until 1992. He then worked as a lawyer until 1996. In 1997 he became President of the Luxembourg Administrative Court of First Instance. He has been a member of the Luxembourg Grand-Ducal Institute since 2002 and has lectured at the University of Luxembourg since 2006 . In 2008 Ravarani also became President of the Luxembourg Supreme Administrative Court and Vice-President of the Luxembourg Constitutional Court. In 2011 he completed his doctorate at the University of Luxembourg. iur. from. He has also been an honorary professor there since 2015.

In June 2015, Ravarani was elected judge at the European Court of Human Rights to succeed Dean Spielmann as representative of Luxembourg . He began his term of office, which is expected to last until 2024, on November 1, 2015.
