Georgi Jordanow (politician)

Georgi Jordanow , actually Georgi Jordanow Momchev , ( Bulgarian Георги Йорданов , born May 29, 1934 in Twarditsa ) is a former Bulgarian politician .

Life

In 1956 he graduated from Sofia University with a law degree . In the same year he joined the Bulgarian Communist Party . From 1966 he was a candidate for the party's central committee , of which he was a member from 1971. In July 1972 he became a member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee. From 1971 to 1979 he served as the first secretary of the party's Sofia City Committee. In 1979 he became a candidate for the Politburo of the Central Committee. In the same year he became deputy chairman of the Bulgarian Council of Ministers .

From 1987 to 1989 he was Bulgaria's Minister of Culture.

He was awarded the Georgi Dimitrov order .
