Georgi Zažitski

Georgi Zažitski ( Russian Георгий Семёнович Зажицкий / Georgi Semjonowitsch Saschizki ; born February 5, 1946 in Luga ) is a former Soviet fencer of Estonian origin.

Life and sporting success

In 1947 Zažitski moved with his parents to the Estonian SSR . From 1960 he trained as a professional fencer in Tallinn . From 1963 to 1970 he was seven times Estonian champion. In 1969 he became world champion in epee fencing with the Soviet team . At the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich , Georgi Zažitski won the bronze medal in epee fencing (team ranking). Georgi Zažitski has lived and worked in Norway since 1990 . His son Hariton Zažitski is also a professional fencer.
