Georgios Hatzianestis ( Greek Γεώργιος Χατζηανέστης ) (* 1863 ; † November 15 July / November 28,  1922 greg. In Goudi , Athens ) was a Greek general. He was the commander in chief of the Greek armies in the Turkish Liberation War .

Life

Hatzianestis was sentenced to death together with five politicians as the person responsible for the Greek defeat in the Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922) in the Trial of the Six and executed .

In the more recent military-historical research, the thesis is put forward that Hatzianestis' mental health was significantly restricted: He mainly fought the war from bed, because he was convinced that his bones were made of glass.
