Georgios Tsitas

Georgios Tsitas ( Greek Γεώργιος Τσίτας , * 1872 in Izmir , Ottoman Empire ; † unknown) was a Greek wrestler .

In the first round of the wrestling competitions in the Greco-Roman style, Tsitas had a bye, so he only had to compete in the semifinals. He was in the medal ranks before he even had a fight. In the semifinals, Tsitas fought against his Greek compatriot Stephanos Christopoulos. He won the fight by knocking Christopoulos to the ground. In the final of the competition Tsitas had to fight against the German wrestler Carl Schuhmann . On the first day he fought the German for 40 minutes before dark broke the fight. The next day, Tsitas lost the fight after fifteen more minutes.
