Gerónimo Baqueiro Foster
Gerónimo Baqueiro Foster (born January 7, 1898 in Hopelchén ; † 1967 ) was a Mexican musicologist, composer, flutist and oboist.
Baqueiro Foster took lessons from the flautist Luis Ontiveros in Mérida . From 1916 he worked here as a flautist and oboist. In 1921 he went to Mexico City , where he became a flautist at the Teatro Arbeu and played in various military bands . From 1922 he studied at the National Conservatory with Julián Carrillo . He became a member of the avant-garde group Sonido 13 . Since 1929 he taught himself at the conservatory and conducted folklore studies all over Mexico. He worked as a music critic for the newspaper El Nacional and composed piano works and songs . His work Método de Solfeo appeared in several editions.
