Gerald Gaß (born 1963 ) is President of the German Hospital Society .

job and career

The graduate economist and graduate sociologist was elected as the new President of the German Hospital Society (DKG) on November 28, 2017. Since 2008 he has been managing the business of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Hospital based in Andernach . The facility employs around 4,000 people at a total of 17 locations and has 2,200 beds.

Before Gaß became managing director in Andernach, he headed the health department in the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs from 2001 to 2008. Here he was also responsible for the supervision of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. Furthermore, Gaß has been chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate Hospital Society and member of the board of the DKG since 2016.

According to a board resolution, DKG President Gerald Gaß will succeed the current DKG General Manager Georg Baum, who is retiring, on April 1, 2021.
