Wolfgang Lüderitz (composer)
Wolfgang Lüderitz (born August 10, 1926 in Dudweiler , Saar area ; † September 7, 2012 in Cologne-Porz , Germany ) was a German composer of choral music .
Life
Lüderitz grew up in Wickrathberg near Mönchengladbach , where he played the church organ at the age of 15 and later worked as a choirmaster. This was followed by studies at the Cologne University of Music , which he completed in 1951 with the exam as a choir director. He then studied musicology at the University of Cologne from 1951 to 1954, a . a. under Karl Gustav Fellerer . From 1956 until his death in 2012 Lüderitz lived in Cologne-Porz, where he was also active as a choir director and church musician.
Wolfgang Lüderitz published his first choral compositions in 1954, but his works gained popularity in the 1960s. By the mid-1980s he had already published around 170 original compositions and arrangements of both sacred and secular music, ranging from simple verse songs to symphonic cantatas . The Central German Singers' Association honored him with the award of the Louis Spohr plaque .
