The German Hospital Association e. V. ( DKG ) is a non-profit interest group and umbrella organization of leading and regional associations of hospital operators . The DKG is based in Berlin , previously in Düsseldorf until 2004 .
The DKG was founded in 1949 on the initiative of the then General Manager of the German Association of Cities and the then working group of the municipal umbrella organizations, Peter van Aubel .
activity
The main task of the association is to support its members in fulfilling their legally mandated tasks in the field of hospitals . The DKG primarily deals with fundamental questions that do not only affect individual organizations or associations.
In national and international cooperation with other health care institutions, it works to maintain and improve the performance of hospitals and supports and advises state bodies and authorities in the implementation of laws. As the umbrella organization of the hospitals, the DKG also campaigns for their interests in politics (see lobbying ).
In the German Democratic Republic , the Hospital Society of Saxony-Anhalt eV (KGSAN) was founded on August 31, 1990 before the reunification of Germany , with 60 out of 80 hospital operators from the GDR districts of Halle and Magdeburg agreeing. KGSAN was accepted into the DKG as the first member from the new federal states on September 18, 1990.
The association has represented Germany at HOPE - European Hospital and Healthcare Federation since 1995 and, among other things, takes on the national coordination for the HOPE exchange in Europe.
In 2000, the DKG was a founding member of the Federal Office of Quality Assurance gGmbH (BQS) with the German Medical Association , the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds and the Association of Private Health Insurance .
In 2001, the DKG, together with the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds and the Association of Private Health Insurance, was a founding member of the Institute for the Hospital Remuneration System (InEK), which defines the German coding guidelines .
Since 2004, as negotiating and contracting partner of the German social security agencies, it has provided two voting members in the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA), the body of joint self-administration in the health care system in Germany according to Section 91 of Book V of the Social Security Code (SGB V).
In cooperation with the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds, the association also awards larger evaluation and research contracts, for example the one from December 2008 on the effects of the DRG flat rate per case in German hospitals.
The association publishes its own specialist journal ("das Krankenhaus").
Members
The association has 28 member associations, consisting of 12 central associations of hospital owners and 16 regional associations of hospital owners ( regional hospital associations ).
