Jürgen Gohde (* 1948 in Rotenburg (Wümme) ) is a German Protestant theologian and chairman of the Kuratorium Deutsche Altershilfe (KDA).

Life

Jürgen Gohde studied theology and educational science after graduating from high school in Marburg . In 1975 he was ordained and pastor for two years in Schönstadt near Marburg. In 1977 he became the state youth pastor of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck , in 1978 pastor in the Frankfurt deaconess house and from 1981 to 1988 he was pastor in Großseelheim near Marburg.

From 1988 to 1994 Gohde was the pastor for Diakonie in the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck. From 1994 to June 2006 he was President of the Diakonisches Werk der EKD (re-elected in June 2005 for five years). From 2000 to 2007 he was President of the European Association for Diaconia “Eurodiaconia”.

Outside of Diakonie , Gohde took on functions in social organizations during his tenure, for example in the German Association for Public and Private Welfare and in the German Hospital Society (DKG). From 1996 to 1997 he was also President of the DKG. In 1995, 2001 and 2002 he was also President of the Federal Association of Independent Welfare Care (BAGFW).

On June 21, 2006 Jürgen Gohde resigned from his position as President of the Diaconal Work of the EKD after disagreements with the Diaconal Council. Klaus-Dieter Kottnik was elected to his successor on October 19, 2006 .

On February 2, 2007, Gohde was elected chairman of the Board of Trustees for German Old Age Aid. Since then, he has been the chairman of the “Advisory Board for Reviewing the Definition of Long-Term Care ” for the committee's report to the Federal Ministry of Health .

In December 2011 Gohde announced his resignation as chairman of the care advisory board and at the same time criticized the care policy of Health Minister Daniel Bahr .
