The six municipalities of Gingst , Kluis , Neuenkirchen , Schaprode , Trent and Ummanz were united in the office of Gingst , based in the municipality of the same name , to handle their administrative business.
On January 1, 2005, the municipalities of the Gingst office merged with the former South-West Rügen office and the formerly free municipality of Insel Hiddensee in the new West-Rügen office .
