Saarland Hospital Society
The Saarland Hospital Society e. V. (SKG), based in Saarbrücken, is the union of the hospital owners and their central associations in Saarland . It is one of the 16 regional hospital societies in Germany and a member of the German Hospital Society .
history
The Saarland Hospital Society e. V. was founded on October 27, 1950 with the aim of representing the interests of its member hospitals vis-à-vis politics and health insurance companies. The historically grown hospital structure of 41 clinics at the time has been reduced to 22 clinics in recent decades as a result of the health reform .
activity
The SKG advises its members on fundamental questions of the hospital system and promotes the training, further education and training of hospital employees. It represents the interests of the institutions towards the state authorities , the state government and the state parliament . She is the contact for politics, associations and the press on all questions of health policy . Thanks to its structure and the overarching cooperation within the SKG, synergies should be used efficiently.
The SKG conducts contract negotiations with the health insurance companies on the structure and fees for hospital services . It also negotiates, for example, the nationwide base rate , the training fund for non-medical medical training professions in hospitals and various framework agreements with the health insurance companies .
The Saarland Hospital Society provides its member hospitals with comprehensive information on current political developments, changes in the law and operational management issues such as facility financing , quality requirements and service and labor law.
Members
The Saarland Hospital Society currently represents 22 acute hospitals, three geriatrics connected to acute hospitals, a rehabilitation facility and a center for psychosomatic medicine and behavioral medicine.

The chairman of the board and his deputy are elected by the general meeting from among the board members for two years.
On October 19, 2018, the General Assembly elected Manfred Klein, Managing Director of St. Nikolaus Hospital Wallerfangen, as Chairman and on October 23, 2019, Christian Braun, Managing Director, Medical Director of the Saarbrücken Clinic, as Deputy Chairman of the Board.
