Almost two million people are cared for in Germany's university hospitals every year. Around 180,000 employees take care of patients here. The university clinics stand for high-performance medicine, teaching and research. They offer the connection between research and practice in diagnostics and therapy. They are responsible for the training of medical students and take on a large part of the medical training.
structure
In addition to the general assembly and the board of directors, which is made up of the medical and commercial directors of the university hospitals, five standing committees have been set up, each of which is headed by a board member: joint committee, finance committee, personnel committee, quality committee and IT committee. In addition to the standing committees, working groups are set up as required.
aims
The association represents the interests of the university clinics and strives for better economic and legal framework conditions for its members. The aim is to continue to provide top-quality medicine for patients in the future and to introduce new examination and treatment methods into the health system. At the same time, the top position of the German university clinics in the international competition for biomedical research and for the best scientists is to be secured.
Networking
With the Medical Faculty Day, the VUD is working on the close integration of medical faculties and university clinics. Together, the two associations form the German University Medicine.
