Jules Landolt

Julius Johann "Jules" Landolt (born March 28, 1930 ; † April 3, 2005 ) was a Swiss politician of the CSP and later the CVP from the canton of Glarus .

The trustee was elected to the district administrator in 1959 . In 1980 he took over the office of mayor of Näfels . He held these political offices until he was elected to the government council as a fierce candidate in 1986 . He headed the Agriculture and Forestry Directorate. From 1988 to 1990 he was state governor and from 1990 to 1994 mayor . He made headlines when he got caught in a speed trap in Brunau near Zurich and had to surrender his driver's license as a result. In 1994 he ran for re-election to the cantonal government, although the canton of Glarus has an age limit of 65 years. He could not have held the office for the entire four-year term and was voted out of office.
