Gerald Schmid

Gerald Schmid (born November 18, 1966 in Knittelfeld ) is an Austrian politician of the ( SPÖ ). From 2005 to 2015 he was a member of the Styrian state parliament . From May 5, 2014 to 2019, he was mayor of the city of Knittelfeld.

Life

Schmid was professionally active as managing director at the Aichfeld-Murboden water association and operations manager for water management companies. He was politically active as the deputy director of the Styrian Housing Promotion Council. 2002–2006 and 2010–2014 he was 1st Vice Mayor of the city of Knittelfeld. Schmid was a member of the state parliament from October 25, 2005 to June 2015 and area spokesman for building, spatial planning and housing.

In November 2019, he announced his resignation as Mayor of Knittelfeld. In the municipal council meeting on December 9, 2019, Harald Bergmann was elected as his successor. Bergmann suggested his predecessor Gerald Schmid as an honorary citizen of the municipality. After resigning as mayor, he returned to his job as managing director of the Aichfeld-Murboden water association.
