Gerard Ekdom

Gerard Ekdom (born March 26, 1978 ) is a Dutch radio presenter who is currently moderating at Radio 10 . Until the summer of 2015 he worked for the public broadcaster NPO 3FM .

Career

Ekdom began to host radio programs on local radio regularly at the age of 14. Later he worked briefly for a city broadcaster in Utrecht and at the then NEW Dance Radio. In 1998 Ekdom switched to the public broadcaster 3FM (today NPO 3FM), where he initially moderated various programs on a substitute basis and at night. In September 2001 he took over the weekday morning program Arbeidsvitaminen (German: Arbeitsvitamin) until he switched to the midday program Effe Ekdom (German: for short times Ekdom) in September 2010 . He moderated the latter up to and including July 31, 2015. In addition to Effe Ekdom , he also moderated the program Ekdom in de Nacht (Ekdom in the night), which was broadcast on Saturdays. He also moderated the program Ekstra Weekend on Friday evenings between September 2006 and December 2013 together with Michiel Veenstra . Ekdom has been moderating the morning program Ekdom in de Ochtend (Ekdom am Morgen) on NPO Radio 2 since October 5th, 2015 . Since August 27, 2018 he has switched to Radio 10 and moderates "Ekdom in de morgen" every working day from 6:00 am to 10:00 am.

Success with I'll Be There This Christmas

In November 2014, Ekdom released the Christmas single I'll Be Home This Christmas under the name Gary Fomdeck , which was initially only rarely played by smaller radio stations. Ekdom announced that he was Gary Fomdeck in December 2014 as part of 3FM's annual, multi-day fundraiser Serious Request . Then I'll Be There This Christmas made it to number one in the Dutch iTunes Top 100 within a very short time . In the GfK Top 100 (not identical to the Top 40 singles charts , which did not create their own charts for the 52nd calendar week ) the single also reached number 1. The income of the song in the amount of 46,839 euros came entirely to Serious Request.
