Gerard Keller

Gerard Keller (born February 13, 1829 in Gouda , † January 1899 in Arnhem ) was a well-known and popular Dutch writer and newspaper editor in Europe in the 19th century .

Life

Keller was trained in The Hague . In 1850 he became a stenographer for the States General and in 1864 took over the editing of the "Arnhemsche Courant". Keller was an unusually prolific writer for his time. His work included novels, short stories, travelogues and art historical depictions. In addition, Keller was the editor of the »Kunstkroniek« in the field of Dutch art history and also appeared as a popular writer for young people and as a playwright with comedies: De Dochter van den barbier (Arnheim 1878), Het blauwe lint (Haag 1881), Het gevaarlijk not at all (Haarlem 1884).
