Peppi en Kokki (German: Peppi and Kokki ) was a comedian duo in a Dutch television series of thesame name, played by Gerard van Essen (the fat Peppi) and Herman Kortekaas (the thin Kokki). Directed by Nan de Vries , who was also involved in the script.

Peppi en Kokki was inspired by Laurel & Hardy . However, since the series was primarily aimed at children, the slapstick humor was on a much simpler level. As with the first Laurel & Hardy films, they were silent films , but they were provided with piano music and a voice-over , which clarified what was happening on the screen. The harmless stories revolve around two sailors who experience little adventures in search of a livelihood.

The episodes were broadcast from 1973 on in the children's program of the Dutch Katholieke Radio Omroep (KRO). Until 1978 published over 78 episodes. Because of the popularity of the series, Peppi and Kokki also moved through the country with children's theater performances. In 1976 there was also a film called Peppi en Kokki bij de marine .

The theme song was used in 1996 in the Happy Hardcore hit "Hakke & Zage" by Gabber Piet .
