Gerberviertel (Bochum)

The Gerberviertel is a quarter in the inner city of Bochum near the provost church of St. Peter and Paul . It is a diamond-shaped area between Gerberstrasse, Große Beckstrasse and Brückstrasse. Before the Second World War , there were still numerous half-timbered houses here , some of which had survived into the 1960s. A weekly market was held in the parking lot of the site .

Between 1986 and 1990, the area was a building complex with a business center to a design of architect Karl Friedrich Gehse and Bernhard Kleine-Frauns area rehabilitated . The client was Philipp Holzmann AG, Frankfurt am Main .
