The Gerd Island ( Norwegian Gerdholmen ) is an island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located 1.5 km west-southwest of Stene Point on the east side of the entrance to Norway Bight off the south coast of Coronation Island .
The Norwegian whaling captain Petter Sørlle mapped and named the island during his visit to the South Orkney Islands between 1912 and 1913. It is named after his daughter.
