Gerd Deumlich

Gerd Deumlich (born June 26, 1929 in Brieg ; † April 23, 2013 ) was a German journalist and party functionary of the DKP .

Gerd Deumlich first trained as a surveyor . In spring 1946 he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and Free German Youth (FDJ). He became editor-in-chief of the illegal FDJ magazine "Young Germany". As a result, he was sentenced to two years and three months in prison in 1954, which he served until June 1956, sometimes in solitary confinement. After spending several years in the GDR, he returned to the Federal Republic of Germany in 1969, where he became the first editor-in-chief of the DKP newspaper Our Time . Later he was responsible for cultural work in the DKP Presidium and in 2003 became editor in charge and co-editor of the Marxist papers . Deumlich was a member of the Association of Those Persecuted by the Nazi Regime (VVN). Deumlich was married and has two sons.
